For anyone in a start up mode, this is important to read. I couldn’t agree more with all the pints made. It sounds simple, but it’s not so easy to accomplish right out of the starting block. What do you think? Four Things to Get Right When Starting a Company – Bruce Gibney and Ken Howery – Harvard Business Review.
Identify a Goal
What do you want to accomplish in the next 30 days?
* Work out every day
* Take action on cultivating your career every day
* Bring your lunch to work to save $x every day
* Identify one new business opportunity per day
The possibilities are endless. Remember to come up with a goal that’s achievable in 30 days and is rooted in your values. No shoulds!
Hint: It’s easier to keep track, if you take action every day toward your goal.
Take Action, Every Day, for 30 Days
Unless you have your goal at top of mind every day, it’s unlikely you will reach your goal. Plan on taking action every day! We will support you with this endeavor by sending you a motivational email to keep you focused on what you wanted to accomplish. All you need to do is reply to that email and let us know what action you took that day. We are operating on the honor system!
As a reward, you will receive $1,500 worth of complimentary coaching
If you send us an email every day for 30 days as a response to our motivational email, identifying what action you have taken, we will honor your actions by offering you $1,500 worth of coaching for free. How cool is that?

The second annual World Business and Executive Coach Summit (WBECS) is set for June 14-29, 2012… This year, the Summit promises an outstanding line-up of business and executive coaching thought leaders, specialists and industry pioneers. The sessions will be in a “TED-talk” style, in the sense they will be short and pitch free…just timely information all businesses need.
They know coaches are busy. The best thing about the WBECS is we can get to them whenever we have time… From anywhere. No commute necessary.
I’ll be there. To register, click here.

Recently, I chaperoned the Mount Madonna School Seniors to interview former Secretary of State George Shultz. I felt privileged to be able to be a fly on the wall. Check out the insights George Shultz gave the students and the take-aways the seniors had.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Mount Madonna School, we have an annual walk-a-thon this time of year and it’s coming up on Saturday, April 28th! I am going to walk 5 kilometers to promote a healthy relationship with the environment, and to help raise money for Mount Madonna School. I happen to work the event as well, so my second loop will be to get to the station where I will pass out water for other hikers and then I will continue the loop. My total hike therefore will be 10K! Please support my walk by pledging! I plan to contribute a portion of the earnings to Foundation Beyond Belief, a charitable foundation created to focus, encourage and demonstrate human generosity and compassion. I like them, because all of the donations are forwarded and I get to choose where the donations go to in the following 5 categories:
• Education
• Poverty and Health
• Human Rights
• The Natural World
• Challenge the Gap (charities based in other worldviews)
Please help me in supporting my school, the environment, and humanity. If you would like to pledge, here is the link: http://walkathon.summitfortheplanet.org/Daniela-B-pid-804.html
On the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, I can’t help but reflect on the tragedy. Much has been written about it. Recently, I visited the Newseum in Washington D. C. and came across the front page of the New York Herald, published the day after the disaster. It made me wonder what life was like 100 years ago, before any of the wars, technology breakthroughs, and discoveries that shape our lives today.
What will life be like 100 years from now? 2112 – How many people will live on this planet? Will we have discovered other planets inhabited or not? What will work be like? Will the corporation as we know it today have shifted, gone extinct? What technologies will have emerged? What species will have gone extinct, new ones found? What will be the roles men and women inhabit?
Lot’s of questions. I don’t have any answers, but I can’t help wonder. What’s most important to remember is the following thought: Whatever actions you are taking today will shape 2112 in some shape or form. Pretty mind boggling, isn’t it?
Check out this blog post. What cultural differences are you not aware of?
