Re-Calculating…
What a great metaphor for life! Most of you, I am sure, have experienced the friendly voice from your GPS that chimes in when you made a wrong turn “re-calculating.” It takes a bit and before you know it, a new route appears and is announced. And it happens again and again. “Re-calculating” happens either because you decide to deviate from the route consciously or simply because you made a mistake. There is no judgment, simply “re-calculating.” The voice simply, matter-of-factly announces the new course. Wouldn’t it be nice, if we could go through live without judgment as well? We make new decisions, change direction, let go of the old route and try a new one. How freeing! We re-calculate in business, when something unforeseen happens, an employee is sick, a competitor takes market share or oil spills into the Gulf of Mexico. We re-calculate in our personal lives, when babies are born, people die, marriages are formed and dissolved etc. The list of re-calculations is very long. It describes the new and old normal. Re-calculations have always happened and will continue to happen. Isn’t it wonderful that we get to make course corrections when necessary? What are you re-calculating this week?
