The Art of Choosing
If you haven’t had a chance to view Sheena Iyengar’s TED video, please do. It’s a compelling description of choice and the art of choosing, how our values influence our choices, the assumptions we make when presented with choices, the issues of overwhelm and constraints, the American Dream, varying narratives and what we can learn from many stories and perspectives. Choice is freedom and fear all wrapped into one. In America we see choice as something positive and a basic right, but we tend to forget that choices can also limit us. The next time you have a choice, ask yourself, what is the choice, really? What are the limitations of the choices you see?
