Googling and Facebooking to a Job …

Have you heard the NPR Marketplace Report aired yesterday, September 8th about how Alec Brownstein googled his way to a job? Creativity at it’s best! Often my clients come to me asking for help with their job search, their resumes and how to interview. I keep telling them that 1) There are always jobs for people who are good at what they do and 2) You have to be creative in your job search. When recruiters and hiring managers receive thousands of resumes it’s hard to stick out and be noticed. Alec used a constraint (no money) as an opportunity to think outside of the box. By placing ads at the top of the ranking to be viewed as you google your own name is brilliant. He deserved to be interviewed and get a job the way he did. Now it’s up to you to come up with something that’s different and unique from even Alec’s approach. By the way, have you googled your own name lately?
