Gourmet Tour of Haidhausen – A Surprise!
My brother and his wife arranged a gourmet walking tour through Haidhausen, a section of Munich, up and coming. I remember as a child driving through Haidhausen on the way to downtown Munich, but it seems long ago. Being invited for this walking tour was quite exciting. I felt like a kid in a candy shop invited to explore and be adventurous. The walking tour featured 7 local food establishments, which served a small treat each: A butcher shop, a pastry maker, a cheese shop, a vegetarian restaurant, a lunch restaurant serving anything in a bowl and an ice cream shop with homemade ice cream. In addition, we were served coffee in a little shop where the owner creates ‘Bayrische Dirndl’ out of Indian saris. How creative!
